There are a variety of excellent guidebooks available for the novice scout and we highly recommend you get your hands on those before sticking anything in your mouth. For mushrooms All that the Rain Promises and More is a perfect starter guide, Edible Wild Plants is a great resource for all of North America, and Seaweeds, Edible, Available, and Sustainable is one of the prettiest books in our collection. That said, we saw a need for a calendar of edibles that could integrate into your daily digital life, giving you a little reminder what to keep your eyes open for on your next hike or bikepacking trip.
